If anyone from Two Lovers is nominated it would be Isabella Rossellini. That scene with Joaquin in the stairwell near the end of the film was heartbreaking.

Meryl Streep would have her third Oscar right now if her performance in "The Devil Wears Prada" was in its proper category - supporting performance. The same thing will happen this year with "Julie and Julia". Both are really supporting performances in their respective films. Also, the Academy seems to be more willing to award comedic performances in supporting categories, so it would really be to hers and the studio's advantage. If there are absolutely no surefire/knockout dramatic lead performances this year, she may have a shot.

Personally, I think Streep's performance as Julia Child was brilliant, and I'd love to see her win, but because she doesn't have a big crying scene, or die, or have a disease, it may be off too many Oscar voters' radars.
