Rourke is my Best Actor choice for actress, The Wrestler, although Penn and Langella were excellent as well. For Best Actress I think Kate Winslet has ben overlooked long enough, although Hathaway and Streep were also excellent in their roles. Both good races.

Winslet will win Best Actress for the Reader. She was better in that than she was for Revolutionary Road. There is a reason why she won two Golden Globes.

If Hathaway doesn’t win then there is something really wrong with the Oscars…but then again Streep was great in Doubt so it’s really a toss up

Mike, you are wrong. Anne Hathaway was eligible to be nominated for a BAFTA. She was included on BAFTA’s long list, as was the film for best original screenplay. Check here if you don’t believe me.

Laura , the reason Anne Hathaway was not nominated by the Brits was the fact that her movie was not released in the UK before the nomination period deadline. Most assuredly, Ms. Hathaway would have been nominated otherwise. She deserves the Oscar IMHO.

I completely agree with you Mazie Beth. Last year I was completely pulling for Marion Cotillard and she won. I like your comparison with Julie Christie/Meryl and Ellen Page/Anne. Like you said, Kate can be the Cotillard and spoil it. At least I hope so.

as an Oscar predictor for 20 years (I’m 33, BTW), I am sensing some deja vu from last year when both the veteran and the rookie got beat out by a spoiler. and now it might happen again with Meryl Streep aka the veteran and Anne Hathaway aka the rookie and smack dab in the middle is the spoiler known as Kate Winslet. this should be an interesting catagory to predict this year and gives proof that some things are not a sure thing anymore…and if you don’t believe me, just look at Julie Christie and Ellen Page.

I am pulling for Rourke to win Best actor and either Hathaway or winslet for best actress — however, if Hawkins gets a nom she will be my sentimental favorite.
