And the Oscar Goes To…
Picture: “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” will NOT stand the test of time. If it wins, it will be the new “Shakespeare in Love”. That being said, “Slumdog Millionaire” deserves the trophy.
Director: Danny Boyle, of course, for “Slumdog Millionaire”.
Actor: I’m torn between Sean Penn in “Milk” and Mickey Rourke in “The Wrestler”, but since Sean Penn already won in 2004 for “Mystic River”, my money’s on Mickey.
Actress: Now this is really hard. There are three equally deserving women here: Anne Hathaway in “Rachel Getting Married”, Meryl Streep in “Doubt”, and Kate Winslet in “Revolutionary Road”. So, let’s do some elimination. Kate is out since she’ll win Supporting Actress for “The Reader”, and Meryl is out too since she’s alredy won two oscars. Therefore, it will go to the very worthy Anne.
Supporting Actor: DUH! Heath Ledger in “The Dark Knight”
Supporting Actress: Kate Winslet in “The Reader” (see Actress prediction).
