I thought that Gran Torino had everything one could hope for and more. Clint does an outstanding job in direction as well as his portrayal of a hard-nosed Korean war vet. To be able to tackle the racism angle, and get laughs for it, in an overly pc world was quite an accomplishment and testament to the depth and heart of the movie. The academy of course did not give him the nod for acting (which i believe he earned), but its a travesty that the movie received no nominations whatsoever. The man Eastwood is so multi-talented and so unappreciated. . .

Very enjoyable movie and I'd recommend it to anyone. Just one criticism, the transition from the tough old neigbor that didn't like anyone to the accepting neighbor trying to help seemed to happen too quickly and without firm reason(s).

I went to see Gran Turino on Saturday- if only to appease my friend who loves Clint Eastwood movies. I'm not a Clint fan NORMALLY. But his performance and this movie---it's absolutely wonderful. The story pulls no punches. The script is wonderful. the acting is wonderful. The direction is perfect. Seriously- the story drew me in and kept getting better and better. Men and women were wiping their eyes in the audience as we were leaving. This movie is SOLID. Benjamin Button is so overhyped. Brad Pitt doesnt deserve a best actor nom for this film. it's simply not that good. It's very very overrated.
Gran Turino- don't miss it. It IS inspiring. It has a lasting effect on those who saw it. I was out at a bar and overheard people talking- the same types profiled in the movie- and they were wistfully moved. IT'S a POWERFUL film. This is coming from a person who normally wouldn't recommend a Clint movie. It's wonderful.

When I was a kid, I opened up a Cracker Jack box and the prize was a little comic book about people on a planet that were born old and got young as they aged. If Brad Pitt gets an Oscar nod from literally a Cracker Jack box prize storyline over Clint Eastwood whose character can inspire America to be better than it ever has been before, then there is no justice in Hollywood. As far as Mickey goes, it was great that he gained some muscle, but an Oscar does that not make. As far as Penn, his sickly smile on the Milk poster is all I wish to partake of that movie. Clint is the man, period. And playing Nixon is something everyone has done. Kudos to Frank, but Clint's character is a greater expression of our potential than apeing someone based on a teevy show. This year is a no brainer for the men. Clint and Heath!

I too got a chance to watch the film "Gran Torino". Clint Eastwood with playing Walt was no Dirty Harry. He own the role of Walt. But one role stood out for me, a great performance, the actor who played the older cousin for Tao and Sue, Spider, you can see his motivation in the film with his performance and his eyes are quite hunting. "Gran Torino" I personally enjoyed it and a great original story.

UGH. Eastwood needs to go away. I am so sick of him this decade. Way too much overexposure and appearances at award shows. Seriously, there are other actors and directors out there worthy of attention.
