Comments on: ‘Button’ and ‘Road’: Two Oscar unknowns

I’ve read the ‘Button’ script and it sounds like there isn’t much Brad Pitt actually on screen so I think it will most likely get a Special effects nod and maybe a Director and Screenplay. But Leading Actor is unlikely.

We’ve had many “Kate The Greats” such as Kate Hepburn & Cate Blanchett, But by far, one of the greatest “Kate” is Kate Winslet. Ms. Winslet deserves an Oscar, and I have a feeling that her role in “Revolutionary Role” will give her the prize for 2008’s Best Actress. She is an awesome “Kate,” and I’m sure if Ms. Hepburn were here, she would undoubtedly agree.

Well, Donna, only the big critic about Meryl Streep was for Variety (Who also like her in Mamma Mia!). According with many test screeners about Revolutionary Road, this is DiCaprio’s show. Winslet is fine but DiCaprio is standout. So maybe if is true about Streep and Winslet? Who’s next? Maybe Hathaway or Scott-Thomas?

I also hear Meryl’s performance in Doubt is not very good and a few of the reviews are already unpleasant so I think Kate has a better shot to win her first than Meryl winning her third. I really want to see the Reader. It looks so interesting.

If Kate gets an Oscar I want her to be the belle of the ball and get it for a LEAD role but it looks like she’ll most likely get it for supporting and I’d rather her be among the group of best actress winners.

It is such a tough call with Meryl vs. Kate. I love them both although admittedly I love Kate more. I want them both to win!

Like Dave Karger, I am also looking forward to Benjamin Button and Revolutionary Road the most this holiday season. From the two Benjamin Button trailers, this movie looks like it has a magical and romantic blend that will remind audiences of the classics. Add the biggest actor on the planet, and underrated director who has never received the recognition he deserves, and you have a film for all audiences. I can’t wait to be spellbound by this film. As for Revolutionary Road, I read the novel this summer and I can’t wait to see DiCaprio and Winslet engage in a tragic and bittersweet story. Everyone’s been talking about how Winslet has been long overdue, and I couldn’t agree more. But what about Leo? Maybe this could be his year too…
