I respect you Dave, but very poor logic. If A is X, and B is X, then C will recognize (and be effected) by this fact. Yet, C may never recognize this. More importantly, both A and B may not be X. So, your logic seems to suffer from both a lack of validity and soundness. Step up your logic game son.

I would definitely pull for a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Ledger from TDK, but as for Best Picture, I’m not too sure about that. I’m curious to see how some of the “awards” movies are, like Australia, Doubt, and Frost/Nixon. But I don’t think a Best Picture nom for TDK is impossible.

I came to this article via a comment on another website; which was a contradiction to Dave Karger’s concept, that the incandescent moment of the film revolving around the two ships is somehow going to afford “The Dark Knight” better opportunity for an Oscar because Obama has been voted in. Spurious to say the least.
I’d like to make something clear just in case anyone feels like arguing the toss. Fact: Neither of these films successes or failures will have any correlation to any president past/present or future.
In future I think Dave should critically evaluate his work before posting. This opinion is an example of ridiculously poor logic, short-sighted thinking at best and general lazy attitude to the information he’s trying to pass off as correlated.
Being a first time reader of this author I can say I am not enthused, will not be reading again and hope that Dave puts his soapbox down.
That or change your style to writing about things that actually make sense.

I can see the Oscar crowd supporting Milk over TDK as futile “payback” against voters restoring traditional marriage to California. The Oscar Awards would enjoy far higher ratings with a TDK Best Picture nod, but “Oh, well.”
Here’s the joke in all this: Hollywood caused Prop. 8 to succeed by funding Barack Obama’s campaign! Obama’s presence on the ballot caused a record turnout of Black voters, who view homosexuality as deviant behavior. So, 7 out of 10 Black Californians (liberal and conservative) voted for Prop. 8, which is now part of the state constitution.
God truly rules over all things, including irony.

While it may not get a Best Pic nod, the cast of Dark Knight deserves some recognition. Just another comic book movie. Tell that to all the Oscar noms that “comic book movie” Road to Perdition received, including one for the outstanding performance of the late, great, Paul Newman.
